About Permanent Peking

China’s Green Card is highly coveted — yet getting one is an elusive goal, and for those lucky to have one, there’s no manual, limited recognition, and helter-skelter support. This is why this site exists.

The Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card of the People’s Republic of China is an elusive, much sought-after card that grants its holder the unrestricted right to remain and to work in one of the most exciting markets — China. Yet applications are complex, cardholders and few and far between, and for the uninitiated, there’s no guide or manual once you’ve got the card. This is why Permanent Peking exists.

Established by a cardholder himself, David Feng has been a permanent resident of Mainland China since 2020, and one of the more well-travelled ones. He’s tried it all: calling the Immigration Hotline, being previously part of WeChat communities, and sometimes, just outright figuring it out for himself. None seem to work great. Hence, this website.

Permanent Peking is named after the place where David obtained permanent residency, but is intended to be for everyone — including cardholders who are outside borders.

To be launched on 27 October 2025, Permanent Peking will offer:

  • A look at the Green Card, brief introductions on how applications are made, and how to maintain status
  • The Missing Five-Star Card Handbook — a step-by-step guide for those who have just been issued a card
  • Frequently asked questions — and answers
